Isabella received her Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University where she also completed her psychiatry residency and training. Shortly after graduating, she started a private practice in Chicago where she also held the position as an assistant lecturer in Northwestern University’s Department of Psychiatry.

From Self-Doubt to Self-Love

Becoming a mother is a transformative experience, filled with immense joy and, often, unexpected challenges.  The postpartum period can bring a whirlwind of emotions, including feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, and sadness.  It's not uncommon for these feelings to develop into postpartum depression (PPD), which can leave you feeling lost, isolated, and disconnected from yourself and your baby.  If you're experiencing these challenges, please know that you are not alone, and help is available.

"From Self-Doubt to Self-Love" is a supportive and empowering workshop designed specifically for mothers navigating the complexities of postpartum depression. This isn't just another baby class; it's a dedicated space for you. We will explore the multifaceted nature of PPD in a safe, non-judgmental environment.  Through guided discussions, evidence-based techniques, and practical exercises, you will learn to:

  • Understand PPD: We'll demystify PPD, exploring its causes, symptoms, and the various ways it can manifest.  Gain a deeper understanding of the hormonal, emotional, and social factors that contribute to postpartum mood disorders.
  • Challenge Negative Thoughts:  PPD often fuels self-doubt and negative thinking.  We'll equip you with cognitive restructuring techniques to identify and challenge these thoughts, replacing them with more compassionate and realistic perspectives.
  • Reclaim Your Identity: Motherhood is a significant role, but it doesn't define your entire being.  This workshop will help you reconnect with your pre-baby self, rediscover your passions, and nurture your individual identity alongside your role as a mother.
  • Build a Support Network:  Connect with other mothers who understand what you're going through.  Share experiences, offer support, and build lasting connections with women on similar journeys.  Reduce feelings of isolation and create a community of understanding.
  • Prioritize Self-Care:  Learn practical strategies for prioritizing your well-being amidst the demands of motherhood.  We'll explore mindfulness techniques, stress management tools, and the importance of setting healthy boundaries.  Discover how to nurture yourself physically, emotionally, and mentally.
  • Develop Self-Compassion:  Let go of unrealistic expectations and cultivate self-compassion.  Learn to treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you extend to others, especially your baby.
  • Create a Personalized Wellness Plan:  Develop a tailored plan to support your ongoing recovery and well-being.  This plan will include practical strategies for managing symptoms, building resilience, and fostering self-love.

This workshop is led by Isabella Gonzalez, PhD with extensive experience supporting women through the challenges of postpartum depression.  We believe that every mother deserves to feel supported, empowered, and connected to her own inner strength.  "From Self-Doubt to Self-Love" is a journey back to yourself, a journey towards healing, and a journey towards embracing the incredible mother you are.
