Dr. O'Brien earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Southern Methodist University after receiving a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. During doctoral training at SMU, she trained with some of the leading researchers in OCD and anxiety. Dr. O'Brien went on to earn specialized certification in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for treating OCD and related disorders through The International OCD Foundation. In addition to clinical work, she has taught and trained graduate students in cognitive behavioral therapy at SMU and UTSW. She received the teaching excellence award for a CBT course he taught at UT Southwestern.
